Tara Anglican School for Girls

The Tara Foundation

Tara Funds

Tara School has three tax deductible funds, the Building Fund, the Library and the Public Scholarship Fund. Tara also has an Endowment Fund and a Specific Fund, both of which are not tax deductible.

The Building Fund is where most of the School’s fundraising activities are focused. This Fund receives cash gifts which are accumulated for specific building projects, and are then spent by the School to realise that project. The past, present and future Development Projects are outlined below. The profits from the fundraising activities of the Parents & Friends, including the Tara Ball and Fete, and the Tara Old Girls Association are also directed to this Fund.

Tara’s Cafeteria, The Bowern Room, was officially opened in March 2007 and with it the launch of the wonderful education initiative, the Business Enterprise education program. This subject, offered to Year 10 students, teaches girls financial literacy and they are given hands-on business experience. The next two projects are the Junior School extensions and the Senior Learning Centre, which is currently being built, due for completion in September 2009. Thereafter the Swimming pool and sports complex, Chapel and other buildings will be considered by School Council.

The Library is a Fund set up for the provision of books and maintenance of the Junior School and Senior School libraries.

The Public Scholarship Fund is set up for the provision of girls to enjoy Scholarships, so that disadvantaged groups may have access to the high quality teaching and learning experiences that Tara offers. A copy of the Indigenous Scholarship brochure in PDF format is available to view here and a Donation Form for the Indigenous Scholarship may be viewed here.

The Endowment Fund receives gifts, such as bequests and other cash gifts, which are kept in perpetuity, where only the interest is spent by the School, keeping capital invested for longevity. The profits from the fundraising activities of the Parents & Friends, including the Uniform Shop are also directed to this Fund. This Fund provides financial assistance to girls and families.

The Specific Purpose Fund is for other gifts which are non-tax deductible and to accommodate group small projects. Profits from various Tara Foundation Functions are directed to this Fund. The money raised is then directed to either building projects or immediate specific needs of the School as determined by School Council.

There are several Funds established to meet the various needs and time frames of the school. We appreciate that each of you will have different areas of interest in the school and so, may want to contribute to different funds. Remember a tax deductible gift can be as little as $5. We believe that everyone can contribute in some way. So please join us in the journey and make a contribution today.
