Scholarships

Tara Anglican School for Girls offers a number of scholarships to students who can demonstrate co-curricular achievements and strong academic performance. For the music scholarship, the student must excel in music performance. Scholarships are also offered to assist families with limited financial resources. In keeping with Tara’s tradition of inclusion and recognition of outstanding individuals, we are proud to offer a number of scholarships to cover part or full tuition to girls in both our Junior and Senior Schools.

Tara is pleased to offer the following scholarships in 2016:


· Academic Scholarship for girls entering Years 5, 7 and 9
The Academic Scholarship is open to both current students and external applicants. Candidates are asked to apply with a scholarship portoflio, outlining their achievements and involvement in areas such as sport, cultural activities, leadership and service. These details will be considered in conjunction with the results of the Edutest academic testing.

· All-Rounder Scholarship for girls entering Years 5, 7 and 9
The All-Rounder Scholarship is open to both current students and external applicants. Candidates are asked to apply with a scholarship portoflio, outlining their achievements and involvement in areas such as sport, cultural activities, leadership and service. These details will be considered in conjunction with the results of the Edutest academic testing.

· Music Scholarship for girls entering Year 7
The Music Scholarship is open to both current students and external applicants. Candidates must demonstrate an advanced level of instrumental or vocal proficiency. Candidates are asked to apply with a scholarship portfolio and sit the Edutest academic testing. For this scholarship, you will be asked to provide additional supporting documentation by Tuesday 2 December 2014. Candidates will be contacted and invited to attend an audition for the Music Scholarship at Tara Anglican School for Girls on Tuesday 17 February 2015.

Successful candidates will be expected to participate fully in the musical life of Tara, including performing in appropriate musical ensembles. Students will be expected to study music through to Year 12.

· Tara Foundation (means-tested) for girls entering Year 7.

The Tara Foundation (means-tested) Scholarship is open to both current students and external applicants. This scholarship is for candidates not otherwise able to attend Tara for financial reasons  as it is means tested. Students are asked to apply with a scholarship portoflio and sit the Edutest academic testing. For this scholarship, you will be asked to provide additional supporting documentation by Monday 9 February 2015 (included in the scholarship portfolio).

Scholarships Testing for 2016 entry


All scholarships require girls to sit the Edutest scholarship test which will be held at Tara Anglican School for Girls on Saturday 21 February 2015 from 11:30am and finishing at 2:30pm. Scholarship academic testing is conducted by the Melbourne-based Edutest organisation and practice tests are available on the Edutest site.

Individual scholarship results are NOT available to parents.

Scholarships Portfolio

Following your online application for the scholarship test, please provide a portfolio to the school.

Each candidate applying for a scholarship for Years 5, 7 or 9 will be asked to provide a portfolio which in general terms, will highlight their academic and co-curricular achievements. The student must demonstrate enthusiasm for leadership opportunities, community involvement and/or academic, sporting or cultural pursuits as part of this portfolio.

All candidates must use the school approved template for portfolios. All portfolios must have supporting documentation. All portfolios need to be presented as a hard copy and NOT an electronic submission.

Please submit certified copies of your documentation (not original) in portfolios. If you wish to have your portfolio returned, please ensure that this is noted with your submission.

Portfolios need to be submitted in hardcopy to Tara Anglican School for Girls by Monday 9 February 2015 at 4:00pm. Portfolios cannot be accepted on the Scholarship Testing Day.

Please note: for some scholarships, you will be asked to provide additional and specific evidence of achievements or supporting documentation.

Scholarships Offers

Scholarships are offered based on merit and may be granted at the Principal's discretion. Only applicants who are successful in being offered a scholarship will be invited to an interview with the Principal. 

Please note that an application for scholarship at Tara Anglican School for Girls does not guarantee entry to the school as there are limited scholarships available each year.

Successful candidates must take up the scholarship offer in 2016. The scholarships cover partial or full remission of tuition fees (excluding extras). All other expenses are to be met at the full rate by the family.
