Cocurricular

Tara aims to provide an excellent, all-round education. We offer an extensive range of co and extra curricular activities and extra subjects.

Sport

Tara recognises the benefits of girls playing sport, beyond the obvious health advantages and development of motor skills. By playing sport girls are develop their team and school spirit, their trust, teamwork and leadership skills all while having fun! Tara offers the following sports in Junior School:

“ Girls are given the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom ”

Athletics, Kanga Cricket, Cross Country, Diving, Equestrian, Football, Gymnastics (Artistic, Cheerleading, Rhythmic and Sports Aerobics), Minkey Hockey, Modball, Netball, Snowsports, Swimming, Teeball and Tennis.

All students benefit from a specialist Physical Education (PE) and Sports program which assists in the development of technical skills, communication, sportsmanship, game sense and sports performance.

Our Junior School girls participate in a wide range of individual and team sports both within school and in Interschool competitions. There are many sports offered in Junior School including swimming, diving, cross country, athletics, gymnastics, snow sports, equestrian, tennis, netball, football, sports aerobics, softball, hockey, cricket and basketball.

Students also compete in IPSHA competition and advance to representative levels of NSW, CIS and NSW PSSA in a number of sports. A high number of Junior School girls often participate in sport and are provided with the opportunity to make new friends, discover their God-given talents and to find their self-confidence.

Performing Arts

All students at Tara are offered the chance to experience the extraordinary opportunities and possibilities of drama, dance and music performance in a range of academic, co and extra curricular performance contexts.

Past Junior School productions have included: Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat and Aladdin Jr. The 2011 Junior School Production was Alice in Wonderland.

A specialist music program is taught to all students and is enriched by musical experiences including choral groups, ensembles and bands. Every girl in Years 3 and 4 learns an instrument, giving her the chance to discover the joy of music and gain confidence in performing in front of an audience.

We provide opportunities for girls to join a band, choir, instrumental or dance group. This enables girls to perform at school concerts, assemblies, and Interschool events and competitions. From Year 3, students have the opportunity to participate in one of our renowned Junior School Musicals, produced by our Director of Performance.

Tara's teachers are there to recognise, nurture, assess and ultimately inspire each student to give to an audience, an effective and rewarding performance work.
