Junior School
The school has a non-selective enrolment and staff work closely with parents to provide the most appropriate teaching and learning conditions for our girls. Tara’s Principal, Mrs Middlebrook, is committed to the employment of highly qualified, enthusiastic staff who are passionate about learning, teaching and working at Tara.
Tara has excellent resources – including human resources and facilities. Tara Junior School endeavours to provide students with an enriched educational and caring environment with a focus on meeting the individual learning needs of each girl. Our class sizes are small. Tara’s classroom teachers are responsible for each girl’s core learning program and progress and are supported by literacy and numeracy teachers and teacher’s aides.
Every girl, Pre Kindergarten to Year 6, is taught by a specialist teacher for Sport, Visual Arts, Music, Information Technology and Science. Our secondary school teachers also provide our Junior School students with opportunities to explore more advanced content, such as the learning of a foreign language from Year 5.
Tara's Before & After School Care and Vacation Care Centre is located on site at 7 Masons Drive. This service is offered to our Junior School families and is open before school from 7.00am-8.15am and after school from 3.00pm-6.30pm. Girls are provided with breakfast and afternoon tea with homework time organised and supervised. Parents are strongly advised to apply for a place at the Centre as this is a popular service. Enquiries may be directed to the Centre's Manager, Barbara Edge, on 02) 8838 2650 or via email.
Tara Junior School is separated from the Senior School by the school oval and is located at the bottom of the hill at the end of Masons Drive.
