Years 3 and 4 (Stage 2)

Year 3 marks the start of the second stage of your daughter's primary education. Years 3 and 4 are the Stage 2 Board of Studies years and are the years of developing greater independence in our young learners. At Tara, we also offer a wide range of activities that expand the learning world of our girls.

SPECIALIST TEACHING:
PE & Sport

• Specialised swimming program
• Individual athletics program
• Comprehensive gymnastics program
• Major Carnivals - swimming, cross country, athletics and gymnastics
• Training (in preparation for Interschool competition with IPSHA) in teeball, modball, softball, football, minkey, hockey, netball, cricket and tennis
• Specialised sports - equestrian, snow sports and cheerleading

Visual Arts
• All students make and study a wide variety of artworks
• Year 3 (2012) made an emu quilt (part of a sequential unit on Aborignal Australia)
• Extra art making opportunities are available in After School Art Classes

Music
• All students learn an instrument as part of their normal program - 11 instruments are on offer
• Students have the opportunity to participate in the JS Musical - acting, singing, dancing
• Music classes focus on making and learning about music - reading, composing and listening critically to music
• Extensive Band and Choir programs
• Opportunities to perform in ensembles or as a solo performer at assemblies, whole school events, JS events and at the Performer of the Year
