Tara Open Day 2018

Experience Tara Anglican School for Girls at Open Day on Saturday 10 March 2018 from 12noon till 3:00pm. Join us for a rich and engaging program of events, talk with students and staff, enjoy performances, view and participate in academic and co-curricular displays and activities, and tour the Junior and Senior Schools as well as the Boarding House. Come and experience the vibrancy of our School community.

Program

Tara is hosting a learning bazaar in the Gymnasium and this is a great place to start on the day. Families, parents, students and friends can to talk with our teachers and key academic and co-curricular staff in between tours.

Junior School and Senior School tours will leave from the Gymnasium as a central location with our student leaders and staff. Tours for the Boarding House and SPOT Telescope will leave regularly - see below for more information.

The Principal and President of our P&F Association will also be hosting Q&A sessions for parents at 1:30pm and 2:30pm in the Tara Theatre.

Junior School 

Tara's Junior School is a wonderful place to start your daughter's path of lifelong learning. Encompassing Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 our emphasis is on developing a life-long love of learning, and to grow both academically and socially, in an environment designed to allow each girl to flourish. 

Come and visit the stalls to meet our teachers, engage with our enriching learning experiences and see the opportunities with a taekwondo demonstration and more. Tours of Junior School will run every hour from outside the Gymnasium.

Senior School 

From the boardrooms of blue chip companies to the film industry and across the spectrum of public life, it's no coincidence that Tara students excel after their schooling in Senior School (Years 7-12). With state of the art facilities, committed resources, an excellent academic program with links to co-curricular and student engagement programs, the work put into preparing our girls' futures is world class.

Come and visit the stalls to meet our teachers and talk about academic programs and enrichment opportunities on offer. Tours of Senior School will run every hour from outside the Gymnasium.

Boarding

Eggleton House is a boutique boarding house with a family atmosphere for up to 55 students from Years 5 to 12. It is located on the Tara grounds and our boarders come from near and far.  There are family dinners each night and each and every boarder is a valued member of this unique family. Full time or weekly boarding is available. Casual boarding is offered to existing Tara Senior School students on request.

Come and visit the boarding stall to meet our staff and talk about boarding opportunities at Tara. Tours of Eggleton House will run twice from outside the Gymnasium.

Tara Astronomy Program

Gaze directly at the sun with the state of the art Hydrogen Alpha Solar Telescope. 
 
Tara Space Odyssey Team (SPOT) is part of the worldwide Global Jet Watch program in association with Oxford University. The 20” telescope and dome is one of the largest privately operated telescopes in Australia and is run by a group of gifted year 9-11 students. Tours of the telescope will run twice from outside the Gymnasium.

Co-Curricular Opportunities 

Come and learn about school spirit, trust, teamwork and leadership skills, and have some fun! See if you have what it takes to perform in the school musical or eisteddfods or catapult into the Tara gymnastics teams.

Sport and performing arts are an integral part of life at Tara with girls who participate in co-curricular at Tara finding that they can improve academically, meet new friends and are able to develop skills. We have the finest facilities on the school grounds including playing fields, tennis and netball courts as well as a swimming pool, gymnasium, movement room and fitness centre and two theatres.

P&F BBQ

Tara Anglican School for Girls will be offering a BBQ for visiting families to enjoy until 2pm to ensure you do not go hungry over lunch and you can enjoy a chat with current parents while you wait! 

Scholarships

Tara Anglican School for Girls offers a number of scholarships to students who can demonstrate co-curricular achievements and strong academic performance. In keeping with Tara’s tradition of inclusion and recognition of outstanding individuals, we are proud to offer a number of scholarships to cover part or full tuition or boarding fees to girls in both our Junior and Senior Schools. Scholarship testing will be held on Saturday 10 March 2018 during the Tara Open Day.
