Tara Anglican School for Girls welcomed at the start of 2015 the Director of Boarding, Mrs Samantha Cocks.
Herself from the central coast she is keen to meet new families from this area of NSW. As a previous teacher of languages Mrs Cocks has a great understanding of different cultures and the Tara community. She has brought her family onsite and created a great family like atmosphere for the boarders to enjoy.
“Before this year I had three children, now my family expanded to 53 children. I love the community of sisters that I felt straight away between the girls,” said Mrs Cocks.
Tara Anglican School for Girls, an Anglican day and boarding school established in North Parramatta in 1897, has just over 50 boarders. Each girl is personally known and cared for which is an advantage of being a smaller boarding house which Tara has offered since 1958. Our relationship with The King’s School means brothers and sisters are still close to one another with the schools being next door.
“An advantage of boarding is that everything is available to the girls at their fingertips. They can get involved in everything that the school offers, including 23 sports. Tara boarders have easy access to the school’s grounds with surrounding fields, pool and fitness centre. Just on our doorstep are museums in the city, Luna Park and the Wet and Wild Theme Park to visit on the weekends,” she said.
“Tara offers a great transition to Sydney’s cosmopolitan atmosphere and we focus on supporting the student’s goals and help them realise their potential. Most of our students look to tertiary study with the help of dedicated staff and mentors.”
