Christian Life

Tara offers many opportunities for Senior School students to engage in Christian fellowship. Tara has a strong Christian ethos which we promote in all aspects of student life and informs many of our programs, including student well-being programs, leadership programs and how we nurture and encourage spiritual growth in our girls. This lays the foundations for young women who have a good moral compass and strong values.

Chapel

Chapel is the time in the week when we gather together to corporately express our school’s Christian convictions and beliefs. This means that even if the student is not a Christian, they can be involved in what we do in Chapel because as a Tara girl they want to support what this school is about and strives to be.

The purpose of Chapel is to provide an opportunity for our staff and students to take time out of our regular classes and consider the big questions of life; Where have we come from? Why are we here? What is our purpose? What is the good life? What is our future? Most importantly, Chapel is about encountering Jesus Christ on the pages of the Bible, the person who has changed the world we live in more than any other. We encourage our students to not just know about him but to know him personally.

Each week, Chapel meets in the Tara Theatre, a space which is relaxed and encourages student participation and involvement. A typical Chapel service involves the students in singing, prayer, bible reading, listening, speaking and asking questions. Our Year 12 Christian Faith and Values Prefects are responsible to meet with the Chaplain to prepare, plan and implement the weekly Chapel service.

Christian Studies

Cru Group

Every Friday lunchtime, our Christian student leaders also run Cru group. All are welcome to come and to meet others across the different year groups. It is a fun time of games and activities, prayer, small groups, friendship and encouragement. Each year over the June long weekend we join students of The Kings School for the Kings-Tara Cru group camp.
