Learn to Swim Program

The Tara Aquatic Centre offers Learn to Swim programs for all levels and ages; for children from as young as six months through to adult classes.

We believe that all children should have access to quality swimming lessons to ensure that they have the skills in and around every water environment for their safety and survival. We are passionate about teaching all ages, and abilities, the fundamental skills that will provide the foundation for their life experiences in, and around the water.

Swimming, like any other physical activity, is based on development levels and needs to be practiced and the safety benefits of swimming, lessons also enhance social, emotional and physical wellbeing.

Our program focusses on progression. In each level of swimming, there will be a focus on children learning how to swim or enhancing their technique.

Classes focus on water familiarisation and basic water safety skills. Lessons are delivered through songs and games to make your child comfortable in the water within a class context. As children progress through the levels, they are introduced to basic swimming techniques and encouraged to develop more independence in the water.
