Assistance for boarders with their academic learning is a high priority at Eggleton House. Each boarder has their own desk and private study area. In the dormitories these are part of each cubicle and Years 11 and 12 have desks within their single room. WiFi and printers are also available to assist with study needs and to skype mum and dad.
The Director of Boarding is responsible for the systematic tracking and monitoring of the academic progress of all boarders and she works closely with the day school staff to ensure that all boarders are well supported with their learning and study routines. Each boarder has a meeting with the Director of Boarding each semester to set goals for the term and gain an understanding of their own individual learning style in order to make sure they are working to their true potential. Teachers are available during homework sessions to assist the girls with any concerns they may have.
The junior students (up to Year 9) complete their homework in the library on Mondays – Thursdays. Senior boarders study in the dining room if they require assistance, or in their own rooms. Students with particular needs, for example EAL/D students, are given additional support by trained staff as required. If requested, the Director of Boarding will arrange for a private tutor for individual students.
See the Senior School - Academic and Junior School - Academic pages for more information about the learning programs at Tara.
